A Magnificent Ribbed Milk Glass Pendant Light with Large Prismatic Globe, 12" Diameter - very large. The globe is ribbed down the outside and the louvered bottom has prismatic concentric circles. This has very heavy and ornate white cast fitter that is partly cast metal with a solid brass ring. The ceiling plate is painted white steel. The ceiling plate, chain and cast fitter are also white. Requires Standard Base Bulbs - 100W max. (NOT INCLUDED). We highly recommend LED bulbs as they give off less heat and are energy efficient. Suitable for dry spaces The John C. Virden Company was located in Canada at 19 Curity Ave in Toronto and the USA at 6103 Longfellow Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio. The company manufactured beautiful high-end, ornate lights, but they also produced a line of School house Lights and Industrial Lighting which were intended for just that, but they have such a neat Mid Century vibe that have become VERY hot in interior design scene right now. In researching this light I found a picture of the globe in a 1941 Virden Catalogue - the globe is the "Senator" style, enameled Commercial Glassware with Louvered Bottoms (see last pic). This would look great in a the kitchen, bathroom or where ever you choose to use it.
